Jan 3, 2:10 p.m. – Civil stand-by at 1003 ½ Seventh Avenue.
Jan. 4, 8:06 a.m. – Officers responded to the 500 block of Tenth Street for a two-vehicle accident. It was no-reportable.
Jan. 4, 1:10 p.m. – The theft of clothing was reported at 1309 Seventh Avenue. The clothing was later discovered and returned. No charges were filed.
Jan. 4, 2:04 p.m. – A suspicious person looking in windows was reported at 1402 Fourth Avenue. It was determined that the person was clearing sidewalks and had been directed by the property owner to determine if anyone was home.
Jan. 4, 6:52 p.m. – Lee Allen Becker, Belle Plaine, was arrested for an outstanding warrant from Benton County following a traffic stop for no license plates in the 1300 block of 13th Street. He was also cited for having no driver’s license. He was transported to the Iowa County Jail.
Jan. 4, 10:58 p.m. – Timothy Ritter, 21, Belle Plaine, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of prescription drugs following a traffic stop for an equipment violation in the 1300 block of Third Avenue. He was transported to the Benton County Sheriff’s office.
Jan. 5, 3:25 p.m. – A stray dog was turned in at the police department. It was taken to the Countryside Veterinary Clinic.
Jan. 6, 7:45 a.m. – A stray cat was picked up at 210 Seventh Avenue Lot 16 and taken to the veterinary clinic.
Jan. 6, 11:45 a.m. – Ambulance assist in the 1300 block of Eighth Avenue.
Jan. 6, 3:22 p.m. – Vehicle unlock at Bento Manufacturing.
Jan. 6, 3:35 p.m. – Officers assisted a stranded motorist in the 1300 block of Fifth Avenue.
Jan. 6, 5:10 p.m. – Ambulance assist in the 1400 block of Sunset Drive.
Jan. 6, 6:10 p.m. – Vehicle unlock at Belle Plaine High School.
Jan. 6, 7:23 p.m. – Timothy Mangold, Marengo, reported the theft of a cell phone at Belle Plaine High School. The incident is under investigation.
Jan. 7 – Police reported that seven vehicles were ticketed for being in violation of the snow emergency ordinance.
Jan. 8, 5:20 a.m. – Janice Hinkel, Belle Plaine, backed into a cable TV box at 608 14th Street. No damage estimate was available.
Jan. 9, 2:17 p.m. – No charges were filed as a result of a domestic dispute between a mother and son at 912 Eighth Avenue.
Jan. 9, 7:30 p.m. – Ethan Behounek, 19, Chelsea, was arrested in the 600 block of 11th Street on a Benton County warrant for possession of a controlled substance. The arrest resulted from a search warrant executed in May. He was transported to the Benton County Sheriff’s Department.
Jan. 9, 11:40 p.m. – Officers responded to 912 Eighth Avenue for a domestic dispute. No charges were filed.
Jan. 10, 12:01 a.m. – Gerrod Ray Lurvey, 21, Belle Plaine, was arrested on a Benton County warrant for possession of a controlled substance. He was turned over to the Benton County Sheriff’s Department. The warrant stemmed from a search warrant conducted by Belle Plaine Police in December.
Jan. 10, 10:59 a.m. – Ambulance assist in the 1600 block of 13th Avenue.
Jan. 10, 7:30 p.m. – Brian Rigler, 19, Belle Plaine, was arrested in the 1400 block of Second Avenue for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest was the result of a search warrant executed in May. He was turned over to the Benton County Sheriff’s Department.
Jan. 11, 12:21 a.m. – Officers investigated a report of a prowler at 605 11th Street. No one was located.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
