Comment: Local improvements are noted

By Jessica Landuyt
The town of Belle Plaine has been around for hundreds of years. When our town first started it was well known around the country for the Lincoln Highway and our train depot. As years went on the train depot slowly faded away, but the Lincoln Highway still exist. We may not use it, but it is a historical building in Belle Plaine.
As we all know our small town is slowly starting to fall off the map, so it’s a great thing that we are taking the time and effort to make improvements to better our town. Adding onto the high school and Longfellow was much needed for us. Central was just shy of a hundred years old. This also makes our town more presentable when we host sporting events, plays, ect. Another thing that makes our town look better are the murals located around town and on the way into town and the landscaping located the entrances of Belle Plaine. This makes us stand out when coming through. The last big improvement in Belle Plaine is the swimming pool. Our old pool was damaged and didn’t pass regulations. This new pool will attract more people into the town. This will also help our local business’ out too.
Belle Plaine means a lot to everyone and taking time and effort to improve it helps everyone out. With these additions it helps us stand out to people passing through. I would like to thank everyone involved with these improvements.
