Belle Plaine will face a stiff test when it opens boys’ district basketball action. The Iowa High School Athletic Association announced the district pairings Wednesday afternoon and assigned the Plainsmen to a first round game at Mid-Prairie on Monday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. Mid-Prairie has a record of 11-5.
The winner of that game will face the winner of the BGM-Iowa Valley game on Thursday, Feb. 18, at a site to be determined. BGM stands at 15-2 and Iowa Valley is 0-17.
Other teams in the district include Pekin, Cardinal of Eldon, Van Buren and Sigourney. The district final will be Tuesday, Feb. 23 at Ottumwa. The district champ advances to the substate game on Saturday, Feb. 27 at Oskaloosa.
