The 8th grade boys basketball team finished with a 7-5 record. Members of this season’s squad consisted of wing players: Lance Weeda, Mathew Mengler, Adam Daily, Derek O’Brien, and Logan Phillippe and post players: Lane Bachelder, Ryan Janss, Ross Henning, and Austin Vranek. We finished on a strong note winning three of our last four games and made a great deal of improvement as the season progressed.
Game #1 at HLV: Belle Plaine 35 HLV 28
Summary: Scoring leaders: Ryan Janss 12 pts and Adam Daily 7 pts.
Rebounding leaders: Logan Phillippe 12 & Mathew Mengler and
Ross Henning with 7 each.
Game #2 vs. BGM: Belle Plaine 36 BGM 47
Summary: Scoring leaders: Adam Daily with 11 pts. & Logan Phillippe with 10.
Rebounding leaders: Ryan Janss & Ross Henning 8 each.
Game#3 at North Tama : Belle Plaine 37 North Tama 10
Summary: Due to North Tama lacking in number of players we played
3 quarters and the 7th graders played 3 quarters rotating between
each squad throughout the six quarters of play.
Scoring leaders: Logan Phillippe with 12 pts. & Adam Daily with 7.
Rebounding leaders: Ryan Janss 9 and Adam Daily 6.
Steals leader: Logan Phillippe had a season high 8 steals.
Game #4 vs. Union: Belle Plaine 36 Union 52
Summary: Scoring leaders: Logan Phillippe 10 pts. and Ryan Janss with 8.
Rebounding leaders: Adam Daily with 8 and Ryan Janss with 5.
Game #5 vs. IA Valley Belle Plaine 26 IA Valley 8
Summary: Due to approaching bad weather the quarters were shortened
by a minute each.
Scoring leaders: Adam Daily 13 pts. and Derek O’Brien with 4.
Rebounding leaders: Ryan Janss with 7 and Ross Henning & Lane
Bachelder with 5 each.
Game #6 at Meswaki Belle Plaine 30 Meswaki 28
Summary: We were taken out of our usual game plan in this contest as
they had a no full-court press rule in effect. Eight of our nine
players were able to score in the contest and each point was
needed as we held on for a two point victory.

Game #10 vs. English Valleys Belle Plaine 49 E. Valleys 21
Summary: Easily our best overall game of the year as we put up 49 points,
and a season low of turnovers with just 13.

Rebounding leaders: Logan Phillippe with 8 and Ryan Janss, Ross
Henning, & Mathew Mengler with 7 each.
Game #11 at IA Valley Belle Plaine 59 IA Valley 35
Summary: We continued our offense success from the last game and took a
34-6 half time lead which lead to a season high 59 points scored.
Scoring leaders: Adam Daily 16, Logan Phillippe 11, and Ross Henning 10.
Rebounding leaders: Ross Henning 10, and Adam Daily & Ryan Janss 6 each.
Steal leaders: Mathew Mengler 7 and Adam Daily & Logan Phillippe 6 each.
Game #12 vs. HLV Belle Plaine 24 HLV 30
Summary: We played short handed as we lost 2 players to academic
ineligibilities which really hurt our rotation of players.
