James C. Pech, 89, of Belle Plaine, died Saturday, May 1 at the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center following a lingering illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church by Deacon Joe Behounek. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with Military Rites. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday with a Scripture service at 6 p.m. at the Hrabak Funeral Home.
He is survived by: his wife, Alma; sons, Greg (Elizabeth) Pech of Littleton, CO, Richard (Sandra) Pech of Massillon, OH; daughters, Mary Pech of Belle Plaine, Jane (Tim) Balvanz of Iowa City; also by seven grandchildren.

Robert H. Bernsten, 92, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids following an illness. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 17 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Belle Plaine by Deacon Joe Behounek. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with Military Rites. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 16 at the Hrabak Funeral Home with a Vigil Service at 6:30.

Frank M. Silkebaken, 90, died Thursday, April 8, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a lingering illness. Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Christ United Methodist Church by Rev. James Campbell. Inurnment with Military Rites will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the Hrabak Funeral Home.
Frank is survived by his wife, Charlotte; son, Dennis (Barbara) of Clear Lake; daughters, Marcia Silkebaken (Jack Peter) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Kristin (Grady) Zangerle of Cedar Rapids, Amy Silkebaken (Earl Collins) of Highlands Ranch, CO; also by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous or the United Methodist Church Piano Fund.

Jean Marie Benesh, 56, of Brooklyn died Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Friendship Manor Care Center in Grinnell from a long illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chelsea by Deacon Joe Behounek. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chelsea. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Hrabak Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her mother, Ludmilla Benesh of Brooklyn; sister Helen (Mark) Nelson of Ames; niece Megan Nelson, and nephew Matthew Nelson.

Agnes M. Kratoska, 91, died Friday, March 19, 2010 in her home following a lingering illness. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Belle Plaine by Deacon Joe Behounek. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Vining. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine with a scripture service at 6:30 p.m.
She is survived by sons, Robert (Linda) and Ronald (Bette); daughter, Jane (Larry) Kolars, all of Chelsea; sister, Pauline Mochal of Cedar Rapids; and by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Beulah A. Hrabak, 98, died March 21 at Carrington Place, Toledo, Ia. Born in Belle Plaine on May 25, 1911, she graduated from Belle Plaine H. S. and continued her education at Coe College and Drake.
Husband George V. Hrabak preceded her in death on March 26, 1961.
Surviving are sons Richard (Barb) Hrabak & Ronald Hrabak, Marilyn Hrabak. Also grandchildren Kira (Tim) Doyle, Kyle (Nichole) Hrabak, Jason (Stacey) Hrabak, Melissa (Ryan) Barclay, Aaron (Sherri) Hrabak and Jeff Hrabak. Beulah was blessed with great-grandchildren Brandon and Mahala Doyle, Joe and Alyssa Hrabak and Taylor Hrabak.
Visitation is March 23 at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine from 4-8 with a family graveside service March 24.

Floyd Lee Buckley, 71, of Cedar Rapids and formerly of Belle Plaine, died March 17, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, March 27 at the Belle Plaine Museum.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Lee Buckley; sons, Timothy and Jeffrey; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Josie Buckley; brother, Roy Jr. Bradley; and sister, Jean Letch.
Floyd was employed by Funks Bros. Seed Co. for 39 years and later by Ceiba Geigy until retirement.

Milo C. Nekola, 84, died Thursday, March 18, 2010 in his home following a sudden illness. Services will be 10:00 AM Monday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Tama by Fr. Michael Mescher, Celebrant. A private family burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Sunday at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and after 9:00 AM Monday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys; daughters, Suzanne Nekola of Toledo, Geri (Jeff) Doyle of Newton, Regina (Casey) Hild of Atlanta, GA, and Lorraine (Jon) Howard of Omaha; son, Rex of Toledo; sisters, Agnes Kalina of Elberon and Pauline Dvorak of Clutier; also by six grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established.

Mary Elizabeth VanScoyoc, 79, died Thursday, March 11, 2010 in her home surrounded by family. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine by Rev. Jack Andrews. Burial will be in the Winslow Cemetery, rural Chelsea. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband Donald; daughter, Bette (Ron) Kratoska of Chelsea; sons, Albert VanScoyoc and Jim (Sue) VanScoyoc of Victor; brother, Harry (Joannie) Park of Angelton, TX; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Lori Jean Roth, 46, died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a lingering illness. Private family services will be held at a later date.
She is survived by her husband Wade; mother, Lucille Boyer of Tama; sons, Jerome (Heidi) Kalinay of Hiram, GA, Jarid Kalinay and Waylon Roth both of Belle Plaine; sisters, Joleen (Dan) Parizek of Tama and Wendy Boyer of Belle Plaine; brothers, William Boyer , Jr. and Vincent Boyer, both of Tama; brother-in-law, Allen Kaufman of Tama.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Boyer, Sr. and a sister Luann Kaufman.
Hrabak Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
