Speech Competition

Speech Competition

by Kim Blink

The following Belle Plaine High School students received I ratings at Districts in Marshalltown on February 26th and will advance to state competition:

Poetry-Katie Rich, Rachel Blink

Prose-Emily Mast, Jamie Rich, Meghan Miller

Storytelling-Emily Mast

Musical Theater-Dani Coover

Radio Broadcasting-Kaleb Gorsch

The state competition will be held in Vinton on March 12th.  If you happen to see one of these students, please stop and say congratulations to them.  The talent, determination, and bravery it takes to get up in front of a crowd of people and a judge who is critiquing every sound out of your mouth and every gesture you make is something a lot of us would have trouble doing!  I sat in awe of all of the students last Saturday when we were at the Marshalltown competition.  There were a total of 13 Belle Plaine students competing last week and I think every single one of them is extremely brave and talented.  I certainly applaud all of our students who attended Saturday.
