Scholarship Opportunity-April 21

  1. HENRY B. TIPPIE SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA:  Each year, two four-year scholarships are awarded to graduates of BPHS  Each scholarship is in the amount of $3000 per year (total scholarship for four years, $12,000).  The scholarship is divided equally ($1500 each) over the two-semester school year, excluding summer sessions.A committee consisting of the superintendent, high school principal, and president of the Belle Plaine School Board of Education selects the students.  Assuming that there are qualified applicants from both male and female genders, the selection committee would attempt to grant two scholarships each year, one to a boy and one to a girl.  The criteria in order of priority in determining the students are:

Student financial need, Student’s desire for higher education

Grade point average

Scholarships to be divided equally between males and females

Other criteria which the Committee may deem feasible

Priority is given to those students with financial need as contrasted to grade point average.  In addition, preference is given to those applicants who desire to pursue business as their major area of study.
